A winter morning at Avila Beach

A rippled pink sky fills the frame above the headland and wet sand of Avila Beach on a winter morning. The whole sky turned into pink scales, and the wet sand doubled it. Rippled clouds like these are altocumulus, often called a mackerel sky, and they catch color before the sun is even up.
