Egrets and Heron Under the Pier

Three snowy egrets and a great blue heron gather beneath the Avila Beach Pier under a blazing red sky on a winter morning. The birds were working the shallow water between the pilings, and the whole beach turned pink and orange around them. The headland on the left and the line of pilings frame them like a stage. The pilings of the Avila Beach Pier make a natural frame, and at low tide you can walk right underneath them.
